Application Procedure

How To Apply For Entrance In The Bhāgavata-Śāstrī Program

We only accept new students at the beginning of each school year, on October 1. If you decide to apply, you should download our application form, fill it out, and return it by e-mail or regular post.

In addition to the application form, we require at least one recommendation from your initiating spiritual master or other senior devotee you have served under. We will contact the authority who recommends you to consult him further about whether this program is suitable for you.

Applicants are expected to have some regular experience living in ISKCON āśramas and to have read at least half of Śrīla Prabhupāda’s Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam with purports. Those who are less experienced and less read should wait at least another year before applying. After we tentatively accept you, you are still subject to the initial two-month trial period.

You should arrive by the beginning of classes on October 1, or if you like may come a few weeks early.

We cannot pay your air fare in and out of India, but once you join us and as long as you remain with us all your expenses in India will be covered by the Vidyāpīṭham.

But you should be prepared for the possibility of having to leave the school at some time, and therefore should come with a return ticket and some other service you can do elsewhere.

Again, we charge nothing from our students, but we do accept donations from anyone willing and able. So far, the Vidyāpīṭham’s support has come entirely from donations by individual ISKCON devotees through Friends of the BBT.
